Guys and Dani,
Happy Thanksgiving to all. As we sit down to table with a bounty of food, we give thanks for all our blessings.

Here in NC, it is a pretty day with leaves falling like snow. May those who travel or receive nasty weather be safe and well.

In our frame of reference on this forum, we include in our thanksgiving the experience and memories of the marsh, the wind, the birds and the buddies.

God bless all,
Larry

Happy Thanksgiving from New Mexico. I know I can drive my car and or truck down the driveway but I am betting that I will not get back up. We have at least 6 inches of snow on the ground. Praying for warmer weather.

Here in the upper Midwest we have had six power outages over the last 24hour cycle which has forced us to: reconfigured our turkey cooking planes twice on the possibility that we will lose power and have to grill the 19lb turkey I had brined. Anyone ever grill dressing? Thankfully we have a back-up generator to provide heat and some power to rotate among the lights and refrigerators. Bless the 12gauge power cord with a mult-female plug Y on one end. A propane camp stove now resides on a table in the garage to handle our "outage" meals....and the wine flows freely among our guests!

Beyond the plow closing the driveway twice prior guests arriving, it is a beautiful scene that surrounds the crowded house, luckily most guests are neighbors.....and NO TV! What a concept, interactive conversation!

Our last minute trip to the grocery store was directed at purchasing sani-wipes, more bulk water, more wine, and paper plates and plastic silverware to extend our water supply, since we are on well water!

Rick, when you talked about the power outages, it did remind me of today. I got a call at 7AM telling me that this afternoon 's Thanksgiving dinner I had been invited to got canceled. Power was gone. I couldn't go anyway because of all the snow we got around this area.

A half hour after that call I got a call asking me if I would like to come over for Thanksgiving dinner. I told them of what happened and they said, "Looks like good timing to me so why don't you plan in it." I gladly accepted. At 10AM they called and told me that their power was shut down, so I think I will warm up some goodies that Bev left for me before she flew to Pensacola, FL.

I spread about 5 pounds of seed under the overhang at Bev's art studio. It didn't take the birds very long to find it. The majority of doves on the line are Eurasian collared doves with a few western doves in the mix.

Rico is keeping very pregnant Jalapeno company.

Belize has been a busy first time mom. Her litter of 6 yellows are now 12 days old. So, it looks like I have plenty to do today. I just took out the dogs to go to the bathroom and the greatest news is that the snow is melting!

Al, last thing I expected was to see 5 inches of snow in your neighborhood. Why don't I bring some cross country skis and we can do a biathlon type duck hunt? Sandy

There is more standing snow cover near Al than we have here... Our precipitation came mainly as an icy snowfall.

Good morning, Larry~

Thanks for your thoughtful words. Susan and I enjoyed a fine Thanksgiving here at the farm with family and friends.

Among many other things, Thanksgiving signifies the start of the long and wonderful holiday season - and so the decoration begins.....

Amidst all the boats and decoys, my shop will soon find me wiring a bunch of White Pine sprigs into roping with which we will festoon the house.

No snow on the ground right now - but we expect 8 or 9 inches starting Sunday.

All the best,

SJS
