Mickey was showing his age this year. Still enthusiastic, but took longer to recover after the hunt. Later in the season I brought an old sleeping bag along and after a few retrieves he would curl up in it and take a nap. If the boat were bigger, I'd do the same thing.

It's kinda sad to see hunting dogs age so quickly. Good dogs always give 100% thru out their life. I hunted the Northern opening with my son, hunted early Teal on the Mississippi pool 21 (that was a laugh, but enjoyed getting out) and for my 89th birthday my son with an ex Badger basketball player and his son give us a guided hunt (Capt Todd) on pool 9 out of Ferryville. Jim jr and his friends son both got their first canvas backs. As was the case generally, hunting was poor with the weather not assisting.
