Multiple hens will lay eggs in other Wood Ducks nests, sometimes other species will lay eggs in other Wood Duck nests. I have had 35-40 eggs in one nesting box, aka a "dump box". I used to think it was a bad thing due to poor nesting box placement but now I believe nature has a way of making sure species survival should the sitting hens eggs not be viable.That was cool. Is it common to have that many unhatched eggs?
