Hearing protection - again

I know this question has been asked and I apologize for asking again. Looking for the best in ear hearing protection out there for a reasonable price. Requirements are Bluetooth connectivity and sound compression when the gun is fired. And easy to control without having to use a phone.

I?ll search the site as well. Thought something new may have hit the market.

No ear muffs as I have tried those and they don?t work well for me.

I've been using the Axil GS 2.0 this season and have really appreciated them for both of those features you've described. I wasn't so sure about them the first few times out due to the cord connecting them, but I've really come around. The ear foams can get very hard in the cold, so if you don't start the morning with them in, just hold them in your hands for a few seconds and the foam will soften up, allowing you to put them in your ears.

I must say, it's been a big change in having ear protection while still being able to hear conversations and ducks coming in. At some point I may get custom electronic ear plugs, but for now these are great. I won't be going back to traditional hearing protection any time soon.

I have seen these. I have a couple of pairs of music ear buds that have the cord around the back. I a tully prefer this verses earbuds without the cord. If one falls out, the cord stops it from falling somewhere I won?t be able to find it. Or, if I want to take one or both out, they stay around my neck and I don?t have to worry about putting them somewhere.

I am using the Axil ghost stryke. I got them before the 2.0 came out and I really like them. Fit my ears good, have had no issues with wearing a beanie over them and quality of sound is great. If you don't wear a beanie over them make sure to put the wind dampeners on otherwise you will get the wind deafening sound.

I also use them when mowing grass to listen to podcast and have done phone calls through them with no issues.

One more thing. Axil offers fairly frequent sales on their products, or if you buy from Basspro or cabelas they are generally around the sale price on Axil's site ($129).
 
I concur with the muffs not working for me. We have the walkers silencer game ears (4 pairs now). I have inevitably lost the right earbud twice, so now I have two lefts. Wife bought me a third set, and I don't wear them. She has one set of her own, so she really has a backup with my extra. They work well when they work, but I feel like theres no spot in CT where I don't pick up some motorized noise from humans that drives me insane. The Bluetooth app also sucks. Like, a significant amount. You don't need the app though. I've heard the 2.0s are better but haven't bothered. Would not suggest, so opposite of your request but steering you away from them, so maybe helpful.

I have a pair of silicone earbuds from the audiologist that are mechanical, not electronic that I got in 2013 (molded to my ears). Love them. They are bright orange (never lose them). They work great. Reduce hearing by 4dB when not shooting, so I don't have to listen to the leaf blower, car, lawn mower, etc. that's always droning on. I can still hear the wings of ducks and calls, though sometimes farther birds calling are hard to hear with the exception of geese. I usually hunt with someone else with the enchanted hearing though, so good enough..

I've debated getting the more expensive version of the Westones (same as my silicone ones) which are a lot more than the $100 or so dollars I spent. I think the next level is closer to 4 figures. They are electronic. Would be nice to try before I buy. That being said, I need a hydraulic Jack plate and a sneak boat or two before I spend more money on hearing protection.

Side note: the wife loves the game ears. Go figure.

I have been considering buying the tetra ones. I know they are super expensive but I already have tinnitus in one ear and for me I think it might be worth it for me. There was also a brand sound gear that was 399. I liked Tetras warranty return for any reason within thirty days.
 
I have had non-hunting related ear/hearing issues for a few years now and I finally sprung for the Tetra's. I was skeptical because of the price, but after losing my hearing for a few months and having a not so fun surgery I had to give it a go. They have been a pleasure to wear both upland and waterfowl hunting. When heading out on the boat, I put them in at the truck to avoid dropping in the water or marsh. The only tedious thing is the tiny hearing aid batteries that they use. I end up switching them out after every hunt, but they are inexpensive to buy at your local pharmacy.
 
I misplaced my custom electronic shooting earplugs and bought the walker silencer earbuds to replace them (if I'm going to lose them again, I'd rather lose a couple hundred dollars instead)

i like them (I have the non-bluetooth version but there is one with Bluetooth, and have used them for duck hunting, upland hunting and clays for 3 years now.

I hear better with them than without, and they shut down for the gunfire.

there may be a new version coming out because the current ones are on sale at a good price if you look around.
 
Nick they do but in different options. The nice part about tetra is the fact that they are hearing aids just can't be called that because it would triple the price.
