A friend gave me a new metal 6 gallon tank. It is for a suzuki motor and the tank end has a suzuki male fitting on it. My motor is an evinrude. The fittings are not interchangeable. Should I hook up a Suzuki fitting to the hose tank end and an OMC fitting at the motor,or swap out the tank fitting with a omc so tings will be standard. I do like the suzuki fitting . Its more like an air hose coupler. Thanks

Bob,
Either way will work, however,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I'd prefer both ends to be the same brand for a simple reason; If I am somewhere out and about on a trip, finding a replacement hose might be easier if both ends were the same brand.

I thought of that too Dave and you know its going to happen. What about installing a barb fitting at the tank end and getiing rid of any quick release fitting all together. Then hose clamp the bare end hose on to the barb?

"Cheers" to the hose clamp!

While I prefer the optimal "everything fits" the same and OEM... hose clamps and flexibility have given me 2nd life on otherwise dead days....

Expect the worst and then be surprised when that doesn't happen. What ever works, I have some Frankenstein hookups myself. Sounds like you have it figured out. Good advice all around.

Bob-
I work by Ohare, live in north burbs.

I will trade you a new Evinrude fitting for the Suzuki fitting.

I have both motors and use two hoses.

Dennis
