Help with paint for boat

I know a lot of people will suggest packers, but I'm impatient right now and want to paint my boat within the next couple days. I need some hardware for the trailer and am going to swing by Home Depot. What kind of paint do I need for a fiberglass hull? I'm very uneducated about paint, so forgive the lack of manly-ness, lol.
 
i am in your camp with patience but Lou ships fast and FME will last and you will not be painting again next year.
 
Yes, FME from Lou at LSB is by far the best paint I have ever used.

That said, I painted my boat with a flat exterior latex from HD and it has held up ok. Its not FME but it will work.

You might also be able to find a flat oil based paint which can be tinted.

Either way, make sure to do surface prep, wash, light sanding & then wipe down with acetone, MEC or other solvent.
 
FME from Lou - the only way to go. I've painted 3 boats with this paint and I have only had to paint them once. This stuff is tough and it holds up. Don't have to worry about painting a boat again once this is one. Stuff isn't cheap but you get what you pay for.

One thing. If you go down to aluminum, get some of his primer as well. Makes it even better.

My only choice is the FME # 28 from Lou. Its hard wearing stuff. For other projects like plywood duck blinds I go to the big box store and grab a can of Krylon spray and have the paint chick computer color match the cap and mix it up in a cheap latex gallon.
 
This is just a fiberglass sneak boat, oldie too. Not that I don't want it to look nice, but I also don't want to spend a lot on it with never using it before. I think I'll just stick to the cheap stuff for this season, then see if it's my style of hunting before investing a ton.
 
Duralux is only $37/gallon at Home Depot. Oil based.....perfect duckboat color.
They ship to store free....although, they might not be able to ship it fast enough for you.
