Hi Eddie, Personally I had never heard of them so I google'd them. Just pasting the following in for those who are in the same boat as me:

Scott
PS: I personally wouldn't buy a Chinese outboard yet. Precision machining to western quality isn't there yet and your life could depend on your outboard. Their bearings and gearing is horrid. We have both industrial partners and licensees over there and have tried sourcing a lot of material for world wide sales on China. Large castings and fabrications work, but precision machining just isn't understood yet.

Hangzhou Hidea Power Machinery Co., Ltd. is a professional manufacturer of outboard motors located in the city of Hangzhou China.
Based on the technology of cars from FAW-Volkswagen and outboard field technology systems, we have set up our own research and development operation. We are committed to high technology outboard motor development, in order to meet customer’s needs around the world.
There are many size outboard motors available: two-stroke (15hp, 9.9hp) and four-stroke (2.5hp, 3.6hp, 4hp, 5hp, 6.8hp, 8hp, 9.9hp, 13.5hp, 15hp). The product appearance was designed by a professional design company. The corrosion system uses many kinds of advanced anti-corrosion and rust-proof technologies. Aluminum alloy parts are manufactured through the use of high precision production and manufacturing processes, ensuring the precision of each part. All parts are inspected before leaving the factory. Hidea brand outboard motors have proven to provide outstanding performance and reliability in harsh saltwater environments.

Hidea has been approved by international ISO9001 quality system, and awarded CE, EPA and VCA certification for our excellence in performance & consistent quality. Our international business covers Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Oceania etc. Our brand name ‘HIDEA’ is earning a good reputation around the world based on good and stable quality and thoughtful service.

I think I am with Scott on this one. Also what about getting parts down the road say in 5 or 10 years and repair. May be harder to find a place that can do warranty work. Good luck with your choice

Thanks for your replys, these are things I did,nt take into consideration but based on things from china in the past they have shoddy workmanship and whats to say this is any different, it may look nice but its whats under the Bonnet that counts so thanks for your advice and I think I will stay away from them.

Take care and God Bless

Eddie, Beware of the parts situation. The Chinese don't seem to be able or willing to supply parts for the stuff they are building. As we all know mechanical things will break (thank heaven for that or I would be out of business) and will need parts sometime in the future. Good Luck.
