From Steve:

I don't have any worthy decoys to offer up for Jode's auctions, but turkey season is just around the corner so I would like to put this North Bay turkey call up for auction with all proceeds going to the Hillman family. I'll pay the shipping of course.

The call is a 3 1/2" slate over glass made from canarywood with matching striker. The call is all hand made, no CNC machines and it is my own design. Actually, this is the first turkey call I did the spiraling on. If anybody has any questions they are welcome to contact me via PM or e-mail.

Also, I'll start the bidding myself on this one at $100. Heck, if I win it then I don't have to pay shipping right?

Here are some pictures of the call and striker...

Anthony…you guys have turkeys over in Switzerland? Or are you going to be hunting over here in the states for a bit? Either way, thanks for the bids…both you and Troy.

Our family had a fire in our house back in 2007 as well. The answering machine spontaneously combusted at 4 o’clock in the morning. Everybody made it out of the house in good shape, but this sort of thing really takes its toll on a person mentally. We spent 6 weeks in a hotel until the mess was cleaned up…not fun at all! We received a lot of help from friends, co-workers, family and our church family. This is just a way for me to help give back and help a friend in need. Well, that and I really like Jode’s decoys…I’m looking forward to seeing some more in the near future.

Steve,

I've never had the opportunity to go turkey hunting, always wanted to, but duck hunting and bow hunting for deer took up a whole lot of time.

No turkeys here, but they do have Chamois (local mountain goat variety), deer (not sure which kind), hares, and perhaps even some quail or pheasant. However, my NJ hunting permit won't allow me to hunt as a local, and outfitters are outrageously expensive. Was thinking about signing up for hunting classes here, but they start in January and take 2 years to complete!

I really want to help Jode out, but the shipping for a large, heavy. object like a decoy may be cost prohibitive. The turkey call wold be a bit easier to ship :) I also started thinking about surrounding myself with nice decorative hunting paraphernalia, to remind me of days afield, and the call looks really nice so, I figured why not put in a bid :)

That sounds like a good enough reason to me Anthony. That’s insane what you have to go through to hunt over there. If you ever make it back over here, in say April or May, you’re more than welcome to go turkey hunting with me. I hunt in NY, PA & VA…I’m sure we could find a cooperative turkey or two in one of those places. Hope you’re able to do some hunting again.

On a side note, I don’t think I have any calls in Switzerland anyway. However, there are a few that were sent up to Canada if that counts for anything on the international scene. There are quite a few in Alaska too, but I know that doesn't count.

Thanks again,
Steve

Congratulations and thank you Brian. I'll send the call out as soon as Chuck gives the word.

Thanks to Troy and Anthony as well...it takes more than one person to make an auction work. Sorry you didn't get the room deco Anthony.
