Homemade Mud Motor? Help

I've seen some people use a weed wacker motor to make a simple mud motor. I've tried and I have two problems. The prop spins the wrong way or I need the motor to spin backwards. does anyone have any ideas. Thanks

I don't know if this will help but there is a thread going as a sticky on the boats, blinds and gadgets section at the Refuge. In the thread there is complete instructions for building a weed wacker mud motor but I'm not sure if there is anything pertaining to your problem. Wouldn't hurt to look.

These are the plans from over on the 'Fuge boat sticky. These are a combination of other peoples ideas all condenced into one place. There are lots of photos so it takes a while to load even on DSL.

This is the thread it comes from, but they don't show up until page 76 or 77. Yes over 80 pages for a thread about building a little dinky boat as cheap as possible out of two sheets of plywood and some glue.

Weed eater motors spin the other way from boat motors. Here is the link for the proper props for your motor. You want a counter clockwise rotation prop. I believe the one most use is the T-10 prop from Youngs Props. Not the most durable as they are cast but they have worked well for me.

Also, here is the best thread on the net for building a weed eater mud motor. Hundreds of posts, plans, drawings, a complete diy step by step process etc...
