OK... I have gone back and forth on this topic too many times. Do I leave the Scaup at 16' or should I stretch it a foot in to 17'?

Pros/coins? I am putting a 50 on it... power is not an issue....more room for decoys/ or second hunter.... more seaworthy, maybe...

Cons... heavier.... Harder to hide???? Maybe??? But it is a low profile boat... so will that foot matter?

Either way... I will be lofting Sunday .... or Monday.... input would be appreciated

Other then maybe when ass-less chaps are involved have you ever heard someone say "I wish it was smaller"?

^^^^^ we need a like button for Tim's comment. Haha. Seriously tho why not make it bigger? If it doesn't alter the performance of the design and you have the material then go for it.

Will this have the higher decks like your honker?

Tim, that is what I was thinking....

Tom, the only reason I could think of.... would be hideablility..... and yes, it will have similar top deck as my honker.....

Last year I went from a 14 footer to a 17 footer. Now while I realize my jump was considerably larger than your proposed difference, I find that every square inch is valuable when hunting. I've never regretted it for an instant. I hunted her hard this past season and never for an instant did I ever feel the larger boat made a difference to the ducks.

Just my thoughts,

Jon
