How fast does a goose fly?

According to the speedometer on my Harley approximately 30 mph.

I came around a bend this morning on the way to work and there was a goose in the middle of the road at the bottom of a hill. As a new rider, I was a bit nervous so I cautiously went around the goose. To my total surprise
it took off going straight up the road at about 30mph. I wish I had a camera....

they fly much faster than that,,be careful guys on bikes have been killed by hitting big birds like buzzards, I imagine a goose could do the same

Years ago I got caught in a flight of geese flying a single engine aircraft at 3000 ft. They had to be going 90 to 100 miles per hour anyway.

It all depends on how much shot you put up its rear end, with a 3" magnum they go like a rocket HeHeHe.

Take care and God Bless

Goose speed is inversly proportional to my shooting ability. As their speed, size, and elevation increase, my shooting, bragging, and eating success diminish.

I had heard much faster, and a quick web search found this:

Reports vary on speed but between 40 and 55 miles per hour (Rathbun 1934) seems

to be the general consensus. It’s also been reported that geese can attain a speed of

70 miles per hour with a tail wind.

I saw some on saturday, hanging motionless in the sky, fighting a head wind (VERY strong on Saturday). They turned down wind and must have been close to 80MPH!
