How to temporarily position balast weights during balancing process?

I have tried using 1/2 inch upholstery nails to tack balast weights to the bottom of decoys while figuring out the sweet spot for permanent attachment, but they never seem to be long enough to get a good bite.

How do you guys do it?

Need help quick, so I can balance these babies after work and take em out tomorrow morn!

Thanks!

are you keelless? just go the tubber band route---fi keeling, drill fore of center for puddlers, aft for divers,-kinda depends upon the width of the keel---generally, i use spade bits with the centers knocked off-anywhere from 11/16 to 13/15, even one inchers sometimes-for brant, geese!
Rubber bands, and a pencil to mark where you are going to attach the weight

Nice, Rutgers! I almost spit Mt. Dew all over the puter when I saw your post . . . too funny.

So anyway, nothing like overlooking the obvious and making the simple complicated . . . rubber bands it is!

Thanks gentlemen!

Or use double sided tape. Nice thing about this method is that you can reposition the weights easily and try another spot.

How's hunting "up north"? Seeing any norhtern flights coming through yet?
