Hunter sticks a bull

My oldest son Hunter shot this bull last week here in Washington.

We called him into 25 yards and as he walked by Hunter he made a great shot with his Matthews. This was a limited entry hunt so it was a great week in the field with very few hunters to contend with.

The weather was very warm and the full moon didn't help much either, finally on Friday it cooled off and Saturday we got close to one bull in the morning and then got onto this one around 11 am.

Yeesh..those elk are huge. Great job, I'm sure his knees are still knocking. Thinking of doing anything with a mount? Congrats to you both!

Wow, very cool. I bet that was exciting.

Hey Fred, I saw your pretty face the other day in Wildfowl. Nice photo.

Ryan, Were going to do a European mount, we got the skull boiled out yesterday. I really like that style, I love mounted heads but wall space is getting pretty thin around the house and mounts are getting expensive.

Tod, I saw that picture the other day, the writer is a good friend of mine, I don't know why he would want to put my ugly mug in there !!

Very nice Fred.Your kids are spoiled...........nah,Im just jealous.

I'll give you a call soon I need a good source for maps.

Fred-

that bull is a MONSTER! And I'd have to say that your kids are spoiled...bwahahahahah but in a very good way.

Fred and Hunter, that is OUTSTANDING! After Hunter stuck him, how far did he run before he dropped? Seems like a monster like that would run a
l-o-n-g way!

Thanks guys for the comments, I just got out of the hills after 3 days on my bull tag I drew, nothing to show for it yet, had a couple small bulls bugle at us today but nothing worth going after, it's a long mule pack into the wilderness where we were hunting and I'm going big or nothing at all. It's on to plan "B" tomorrow

Anyway hunters bull ran only 125 yards after he hit it up through the liver and into a lung, we left him about 2 hours then hit the blood trail for the short recovery. It was a great shot, he had about a 10 inch window between 2 small fir trees as the bull walked by at 25 yards he tried to get him to stop by grunting at him but he kept on walking, so he had to swing to his 2nd and last opening and make the shot.

Jon, there are all the steaks you can handle in the freezer, you are going to make it out here this year arn't you??
