Hunting Boat War Eagle vs Building

Matt, I am a first time boat builder (except for a canoe I built in High School). Making your own boat is not fast, but is the best entertainment I have had all summer. I have met a good bunch of fellas here and I even have some hunting dates lined up from all of this. I am the sort of guy that just has to make something every now and then. Mostly I am a welder, but wood is good fun too.

I get an absolute deep down belly laugh watching the dogs do what they do. I personally like wooden boats because they are less noisy, and more comfortable (for the dog too) than an aluminum one. Bill Suggested that you could both buy and build, not a bad idea... and you get a motor that way too.

Build or buy, either way you support OUR sport. Thats what matters.

Have a great time deciding.

Dave

I want to thank everyone on here that has commented and given me a little information or thought on this whole process. I really do appreciate all of your time and help as none of you needed to answer my question but did and took time out of your busy days to help a fellow hunter out. I have found that many hunters and sportsman are willing to give what they can when they can to help a fello out, truly showing how great sportsman are. Well for what it is worth it appears as if I am going to buy the War Eagle now for this season and hunt her as best I can as many places as I can. In the mean time I am going to clear out a spot in the barn to begin the process of building. As many of you stated it is a long process and having the aluminum boat as a back up will give me leeway to work on her slow and right without the rush of hunting season pressure. I have lined up my hunting buddy to build the boat with and will post pics of the progress and I am sure with plenty of questions and picking your brains on some of the finer details of the build. In closing I hope all have a safe a good hunting season as early goose is only 3 days away and the numbers for ducks looks promising as well. Shoot straight

Good move, you will have a boat to use this season & will probably have the boat built by next season.
Take lots of pics of the build!

Mat, Having just about finished my first ever boat build I must say IT WAS A BLAST!!!! The knowledge of the people on this site is endless and without their help I dont know if I could have done it. You will not regret your decision to build your own boat, it is extremely gratifying. You have made a great first step and that is joining the DHBP. I must add.....Do not forget to post pictures......VERY IMPORTANT...!!!!
