Hunting in the age of social media

I'm really not a social person, but I'm trying lol. This is basically the only "social media " that I'm a part of. Everyone I've meet from this site has been a great person, and talented in one way or another, I mean just look at all the posts of projects. I'm very tight lipped about my few spots, but I share information on spots equally with my hunting buddies.
I've hunted with Nick Zito, and Ken from here, and we chat it up a lot since we hunt some of the same areas. Both great and generous guys.
I was in total awe when I stopped by Steve Sanfords shop. What a great place, and guy. If I had 1/2 of his wood working talent, I'd have a wooden sneak boat for sure. Wood scares me, that's why I have an all glass Duck Invader.
I can go on. I wouldn't know about these duck boats if it wasn't for this site, totally changed my duck hunting experience and methods for the better, basically transformed them. This site is priceless

Couldn't agree more! I have countless ppl reaching out all the time. Met some really good people out there doing what we love in this sport

Thank you for saying that. Let's me know we are still relevant in this day and age of social media. That while FB and IG get all the traffic, we still hold value and purpose. I need to hear that.

Great post. I live in NC but travel each season. I hardly ever hire a guide and I just figure it out the hard way. I do as much research as possible ahead of time and social media helps with that.

I will say I think you get a lot better response from guys when you ask for help if you have already "been there and done that" once or twice. For example, I came up to NJ and hunted for the better part of a week and really didn't talk to anyone before I came up. I talked to one fellow enough to get an idea of what equipment to bring but no locations were ever discussed. We set off and managed to kill some black ducks but for the most part the conditions kicked us in the teeth.

Boat stuck at low tide, high tide flooding our layout blinds, wind making some spots inaccessible in our smaller boat, birds only moving at certain points of the tides, etc. It was a huge learning curve and I'm glad we learned that on our own.

Now I feel like a have a little more "cred" when I talk to guys. I'm more comfortable asking for help now that I have a little bit of an idea of what I'm talking about. I have talked to a couple guys since our trip, and if we figure the sneakbox dilemma out I feel that our next trip up will be much more successful
