Hunting Log app

Does anybody know of a duck hunting log app for your phone. I keep a log in a spreadsheet but thought it would be nice to have it on my phone where I could put in the info when I get back to the truck while its fresh in my mind and not once I get home put up the boat, clean birds, take care of my kids and blah blah blah the next day get to it.
Thanks,
Neal

Trimble gps hunt is pretty cool. You can save waypoints to your log as well as pictures. It also gives a satelite map of wma's. Not free but well worth the $.

I carry a digital voice recorder on the dash of the truck, then download to the laptop. I used to use mini cassettes and then record into Dragon. Winter is the time to organize into a journal that makes sense. I have a stupid ol waterproof phone so no apps for me.

Nothing stupid about a waterproof phone...I've lost 2 phones to "muddy waters", but neither were out hunting. As far as an App, I think I'll quote Pete McMiller: Technology has it's place, hunting isn't it

When I first went to a smarty phone I was really concerned since I spend about half the year outside in rain gear. Researching cases was pretty disapointing. All kinds of folks use Otter Boxes, but they are not water proof. I was recommend to check out Lifeproof cases. That is the ticket for an outdoor smart phone user. As long as you follow the testing protocal when you first get it to make sure it was made correctly and that you put it together correctly it is a wonderful case. It does not turn your phone into a large bulky object that no longer fits in your shirt pocket. You can get an outer shell that is closed cell foam that is a PFD for the phone. It won't fit in your shirt pocket any more, but floats in a bright orange PFD. I know a couple of Otter Box users that cried as their phones sunk to the bottom of a harbor so a phone PFD would be handy.

Hey Chuck -

I always love the comment on technology. Where do you draw the date after which no new technology can be used? Man has hunted since he has lived on this planet. Is the line at BC or AD? First Centeruy, 21st century. Everyone who hunts benefits from new technology it is just a matter of where you draw the line and your vantage point.

Mark,

I imagine at one time there was a cave man with a club scoffing at the guy weaving reeds into a decoy...I can almost hear him, "Technology...ooga booga!"

We all have to draw our own line to create the atmosphere we each enjoy.

I had a feeling the technology comment would come up. And while I am out in the field hunting I do like to keep things simple and steer clear of electronic gadgits. But everybody has there own line. I kept a log in a notebook before I started using excel. I guess I could have chiseled it into wood since a chisel is acceptable piece of technology for carving decoys. Then I changed it to Google docs because I can use any computer with internet access. Now that i have a smart phone I thought I would see what was already out there. I actually had created a form for the google doc to make inputting the notes on stuff like weather conitions, river levels or tides easy and consistant but couldn't figure out how to access the form when on my phone. So I had the thought I would ask "hey whats already out there for this to much technology for when I get back to the truck device". Well last night I figured it out. I just needed to load a google app to get to my form! My memory with reguard to time frame isn't all that great. I hunt all over the state and timing plays a big roll. I like to be able to refrance when birds were where they are for the next season so I don't lets say drive 2 hrs out to the coast when I now know it won't be so good because the bluebills should be stacked in the gorge. By the way I am a manufacturing/industrial engineer and look at and collect data to make decisions on regular basis so it is somewhat impregnated in my brain to do so.

I'd say there is a little hope as he seems to have a sense of humor...Mark on the other hand...

To the OP. Here is an app that was created by a local here in the East Central Florida Area. It manages photos, is built for iOS, and has a place to write notes.

You technically could even write out the hunt details on a post-it and snap a quick photo of it.

I actually haven't used it but I am thinking about downloading it too.

Hope that helps.
