Hurricane Helene

My place and my dads place survived. We dodged a bullet here for sure. I have a couple truck loads of debris piled up but otherwise, no issues. I just got power and internet back. Comcast needs to come by and reattach their cable line from the power pole back to my house.

Otherwise, I did better that some of my newest evacuee friends' places did. Sad for them since this is the third storm in basically a year to devastate their community.
Glad you and yours made it through ok.

Glad to hear it Dani. A friend of mine on Treasure Island in St Pete lost everything as well as many did. They are looking for a place to rent but it's not looking good. Reports of those that have rentals are doubling and tripling rent cost. I guess it goes with the territory.

Good luck to them. That kind of price gouging should be illegal but I guess it isn't.

We dodged the bullet at camp in S. La and got hit pretty hard inland in SC. Crazy to see the trees and lines down. I drove home from camp Friday night and got in around 6 Saturday a.m., been running chainsaw the last 3 days.

NC and TN though, holy smokes they got annihilated. The stories and videos are insane.

Fellas, it is bad here in NC. My part fared fine but the Western part of the state is absolutely devastated. I am taking a 26' gooseneck full of supplies up the mountain tomorrow. The death count you see on the news is nowhere near what it is in actuality. Our family friends live there and have helped with search and rescue since the start. I know they found more bodies in one day in one community than what the news says is dead in total from the storm. This is devastation of biblical proportions.

Folks down here in SC are gathering supplies and scheduled to make runs to the mountains. Specific drop zones and churches are the targeted sites for distribution. How much manpower is up there helping with search and recovery? I've been off the grid leading up to the storm and been wide open here since the storm.
