For a while I was wondering if they would ever win another game. Bev and I sure enjoyed the Packer/Cowboy game and watching that young receiver, #9, who played a pretty darn good game. He got ahold of a tough situation and corrected it to score three touchdowns. I'm glad that they stuck with him.

A week ago Bev yelled to me when I was downloading some pictures on my computer, "Al,hurry up, North Dakota is about ready to play Clemson! Yes, she's that same woman who never forgets to tell me when I am ready to go duck hunting, "Don't forget to bring home some meat for the table."

My team (Auburn) is definitely not having a great year on the gridiron!

Carl, I understand what you are going though. Hopefully, Auburn is making steady progress towards being very competitive.

Hi Greg,
Fill me in about this young man because it sure was fun to watch him play the game. Is he from New Jersey? Did you have the opportunity to watch him play in college games?

I do agree with you when a player makes it in the big time. We don't get many Packer games in New Mexico but when we do, Bev and I sure like watching them play.

After the show they put on Saturday night and the spirit, enthusiasm, and heart that Cadillac Williams poured into those kids, we might just beat Alabama this year.
Amazing what a change in coaching can do to bring out the best in a team.

Al-He played college ball at North Dakota State, which has put out several NFL players in the last few years. The QB in San Fran(out for the season-Trey Lance), the one time starter in Philly-Carson Wentz, and I believe that San Fran has another of their receivers on their roster, but I'm not positive. Arguably the best wide out ever-Jerry Rice-went to Southwest Missouri State. I love college football, probably too much. And I always like to see some talent uncovered amongst the smaller programs(Cooper Kupp on the Rams comes to mind). It shows that you can break barriers, in this case, high profile, but for most of us, they may be more modest, but just as important.

Everyone can be a high achiever in some way, everyone has an opportunity to do something in life whether you get the big press or not, whether you have a high profile life or not, you can make a difference. You've often spoken of your teaching experiences and what they have given to you and Bev. I don't know this, but I get the impression you have no regrets. You two followed your path and were rewarded in your own way. I'm sure part of that was helping some kids see what they could do and be.

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the college players update. I really appreciated that especially since the Bison normally have darn good teams for an up north out of the way area!

Here is for you because once you told me that you don't see too many teal. Check out their proximity to one another. Took this two weeks prior to the beginning of our regular season which began 10-28-22. The photo is a touch out of focus and I apologize for that. I found it too interesting to delete it.

Hi Al

That's a great photo of the bluewings, and I appreciate you remembering that we don't get many out here during the season. What comes through in September are gone by late October when shooting starts.
I love college football Al, I'm a real junkie. My family are Michigan State fans, my parents went there, my aunt went there, one of my cousins, and my daughter is a senior there this year.I have pictures of me throughout my life wearing sweatshirts, t-shrts, hats. We were indoctrinated young, plus my mother's family is from East Lansing and I used to spend a couple of weeks every summer there as a kid. Go Green!
ND State has a good program.

Al:

Be watching the Pack tonight!! Go GB. Also college fan, with Syracuse at the forefront and a better team this year. Incidentally, my son played (mostly from the bench) against Mike Hart, the Michigan former player and coach who collapsed at a game this year. A lovely kid-hope he is ok. They held him to < 50 yds in the first half of the State Champ game, he ran for close to four hundred in the second half!!! We lost 40 odd something to 21!!!

Have a great holiday season all.

James, we don't have prime so we would just check on our phones for updates on the scores. Seems that the Titans had their act together.

Just across from Lambeau Field was the Brown County arena and I used to ref high school sectional basketball games there. That was a lot of fun. In fact, my last game that I officiated had Green Bay Preble playing Ashwaubanon I think. Anyway, the young man who was a guard for the Preble team ended up coaching just like his dad, Dick Bennett and his uncle, Jack Bennett, who last coached at Wisconsin Rapids when I reffed one of his games down there. Anyway, Dick's son, Tony, I believe is still coaching at Virginia. That is one classy family. Great folks.

I am now wondering how many inches of snow you have. Be careful. James, I just looked up the forecast for the 26th when we will have the families coming here to pick up their pups and go home. I was told it would be severe clear and 60F. I shall look forward to that. Down here they have signs along the highway we live by saying roads don't get plowed on weekends. When it snows down here Bev and I learned very quickly to just stay home and wait for it to melt. It is like bumper cars on the roadway just because folks just don't know how to handle driving in snow.

All of a sudden I remembered the question I was asking of lifelong residents from the Socorro area. This old timer, hey back in 1993, when I was in Socorro, I was just 52 years old. I was looking for land to build a home on some day when I retired. My question to him was this. Does it snow down here? He looked at me and said, "Yes, it does but for the life of me, I can't remember if it was three years ago or four when it last snowed?"

As you look at this picture I didn't have a clue as to when it snowed but when my cursor was on the picture I found out that I took this shot on December 29th, 2018. That's almost 4 years ago. The old timer was right!
