I hope Jeff Foiles isn't in the habit of

Here's hoping he gets everything he deserves. I won one of his calls and a video in the raffle at a charity clays shoot, and found the video unwatchable. Not my idea of hunting--more like a snuff film. (Yes, I know that's over-the-top, but you get my point.) One video like that gives the anti-hunters an awful lot of ammunition.

Andy,

You need to do it like a guy down here does it. He'll load you and your buddies up in a airboat. Take you out to were he says he's scouted and saw birds in the middle of a public hunting area infested with gators. Give you his cell number in case of an emergency or if you limit out...(?) and tell you he'll be back to pick you up later. No blind, No boat, No dog, No decoys........No lunch! You have to bring all that with you.

Hell I can do that and I just got here!

Take care,

Ed L.

He's gonna get what's coming to him. Jail time, maybe not or minimal at best. The US Fish and Wildlife Service took their time on the investigation so they could make the charges stick. He's screwed either way. Call making business, guiding service, sponsorships.....he can kiss all that good by, as well as all the friends and connections he made in the industry. He's gonna be dropped like a bad habit by all of them. Too bad this story isn't getting out to all outdoorsman around the country, the guy is a TOOL. I hate guys that break the rules, makes us all look bad as hunters and puts the future of our sport at risk. Champion caller, good for him, he'll be blowing plenty of strait meat calls in prison!!!!!

Just a thought here guys, and not trying to defend anyone or say anything else, but aren't we supposed to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
I hear ya but really it is only in the eyes of the court that someone is innocent until proven guilty. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be on his jury so I can be as judgemental as I would like. :-) I doubt anyone will ever be on his jury. Most of those who video their hunts end up making a plea agreement to get the best deal they can, hard to fight video...and I'm sure that camera man who complained isn't going to help him. You do not want to go to federal court without an agreement in hand if there is a good chance you will lose. My prediction is that he will get 6 months to a year, $25-$50,000 fine and will lose most of the equipment. Keep the courts moving. Tim

I hate to say it but in my mind he was guilty to my way of thinking the first time I saw an add in Cabelas with his quote. He seems far from a duck lover. I'd personally like to shake the hands of the fellows who are investigating this sort of nonsense. I think we all know that there is an idustry of this sort of thing out there. Its sad that there are people who actually looked up to this guy.

I agree, guilty until proven innocent.
That said, given that they had 4 undercover agents and vidoes as evidence (plus a past employee) all lined up, I would say that they had a damn solid case before pulling the trigger. And I am willing to bet there will be some past clients in there as well.
Judges love to make examples out of guys who pull shit like this. If this guys is smart, he will plead.

http://www.agrirecland.com/...k-club-illinois.html

If we all pitch in we can set up our own club. I'll chip in the first $5,000. Who's with me? Only 290 memberships are availabe at this price.

As the ad says this club is for the DIE HARD duck hunter only.

What is a famous Pike County deer?

posted eleswhere...yesteday I saw many postings of the same DOJ notice, but only one that went into any detail on the indictment.
Paragraph 24 of the Indictment:

In or about the Fall of 2005, FOILES . . . drove to a city park in Loveland, Colorado, after learning that numerous Canada geese with leg bands and neck collars were at the park. FOILES used bread to entice banded geese near his vehicle, shot the geese with a pellet gun, retrieved the geese, and removed their leg bands and neck collars. FOILES called this method of collecting goose bands "parking," and subsequently used the collected leg bands to decorate his duck and goose call lanyard, which he wore prominently on his commercial hunting videos to advertise his skill and experience as a migratory waterfowl hunter.

Ray,
Wow! That is about the most arrogant game related violation I think I have ever read. I have no problem with people shooting park geese in a legal matter, and more should be shot, but to toss bread out and pick off the ones with bling...dang, I've never trusted all those bands on lanyards and this doesn't do much to change that. Sorry to those who have a butt load legally collected. I can not believe the greed involved in actions like that. I don't care what kind of pressure he was under to produce for his videos. It's OK to make less and have some ethics.

The bottom line I don't see any jail time for him. If one has enough money and knows the right people in this sold out country he can just about get away with anything. I don't know about Canada but there is probably alot of corruption there also. Money talks and BS walks.

Ask Martha how that thought process worked for her.

Max penalty with max fine is my bet.

Hope he gets that and more.

Heard rumor from a contact down that way that he is on suicide watch. If such crimes are a felony and convictable I guess he is left to utilize black powder shotguns.

Screw him

I have met him in person. He did seem like a GRADE A HOLE, only interested in making a buck. I doubt he was making millions, but making a living in the hunting business is to many is a dream job. Why screw it up and take risks, break laws?

I think one thing that people miss it that it isn't a dream job for most. Trying to make a living in the hunting business is a bitch, you are on your own with with long hours, seasonal pay, and asshole clients to deal with. From what I've seen, it is the rare individual that can thrive under those conditions and maintain their scruples.

I'll agree 100%.
I've never cared much for him or his persona, I'll have to say he was one of the hardest workers in the industry.
He never missed a show or an opportunity to market himself.
He has thrown away a lifetime of hard work!

Now that would be tragic. As bad as it appears and as painful as this process will be for him there is still a lifetime to go that includes forgiveness and redemption if he wants and works for it. If there is one thing the waterfowling community does it's forgive an outlaw who changes his ways.

I hear that customers are experiencing shortages of razor blades and goo gone at stores across the country after black hoodie-wearing turncoats pillaged the stores to get the supplies to de-straight meatify their trucks.

I got a Foiles Legend duck call for Christmas a couple years ago. I really like the call, but the video that came with it really turned me off, my wife had to leave the room and even my hard core duck hunting partner was put off. It seemed to be way more about killing mass numbers of birds rather than hunting.

Heard rumor from a contact down that way that he is on suicide watch. If such crimes are a felony and convictable I guess he is left to utilize black powder shotguns. He won't be able even use a black powder shotgun in Illinois at least. Springfield will revoke his FOID card because of the felony. Archery will be his only recourse for hunting here. For those who aren't familiar with Illinois you have to have a FOID card (firearm owners id) issued by the state police. If you have been convicted of a felony they will not issue or renew it. without it you cant even pick up a gun in a gun shop to even look at it cant even buy ammo without.

Black powder firearm is still a firearm, so they are still a no-go for felons unless they petition to have their rights restored.

Don't kid yourself. I was an outdoor rep and Shimano was one of our lines. The money they paid, Martin, Houston, and Winkleman was staggering, and that was a number of years ago.

These endorsement packages are big money. And what do you think a page in Cabelas with all his calls cost? My guess is at least $50,000 and that is just to break even. Figure how many calls and videos have to be sold to make that worthwhile.

I hear Jail isn't all that bad, three square meals and all the sex you can handle. Looks like he'll be blowing the pink calls for a while.
