I saw this spike buck coming up through the pasture below the house and did a sneal on him with the camera instead of the muzzloader. He passed by me at less than 30 yards, which would have been a slam-dunk neck shot for my 1830's .65 cal. percusion smothboare. He 5" had spiles. I left him for seed.

Nice looking young deer. I bet he would have eaten well.
Can't wait to see a picture of a dark horned old buck with the smoothbore laying across him.

Our rifle season just ended with all the large bucks eluding me so far. I've managed to put a nice doe in the freezer, but the buck tag will have to wait till Sunday or Monday for the muzzloader.
