ice report mantoloking area 1 7 10

the bay was opean from mantoloking bridge south as far as i could see but i no its iced up south of the house on the point also north of the bridge ;swan point and what i could see of the metedeconk river was ice free as of 4pm tonight
p.s heard shots from just south beatons boat yard and most lagons with ice eaters in them are packed with huge fat green heads some spots had 50 to 80 birds
 
Good to hear John....................Was in Ocean City today and the bay is mostly clear but there is a lot of ice there. During tide change the ice flows will cause havoc.
 
Sandy Hook Bay has birds & Ice, the two rivers Navesink & Shrewsbury have good ice flows with the tides and a lot of birds.. just have to figure out how to get to em! Be safe.. Pack Ice is none forgiving!!

I will echo this statement. I live two blocks from the Navesink and while it may look open on the outgoing, that baby will lock right up when that tide starts coming back in.

I've been stategizing all week. I live on barnegat bay just south of you and Im not as optimistic there is ice evrywhere until you get close to the inlet. Unfortunately when there is open water I'm not seeing hoards of ducks. There are some buffies and mergs and even a few longtails but there is nothing in the air. I hunted Saturday and did ok with the divers but it doesn't look as promising for me now. I've hunted out of the Mantaloking river and there are always a healthy amount of dock ducks stacked around the draw bridge and docks with water. Let us know how you do. I have my sons birthday party Saturday so unless I get exited and take half day tomorrow. I'm duckless all week. Good luck!
PS,,,do you have a Garvey and hunt with you daughter?

OK Not sure if I missed something here.. just posted about Ice & Birds along with how Pack Ice is a danger! I gues I should just be a site stalker instead?? Give me a break!
 
i'm not even hunting the area i do not have a boat yet only my first year waterfowl hunting
and i sure hope some one would post this kind of info next year when i do have a boat so as i do not waste my limited time of from working hard to hunt and i only posted about an area about 10 sq miles i could have told where i heard and now where the shooting was coming from and how to get their
so chill out shot some birds and have a safe and fun rest of the season
