What would be your ideal power (hp) choice for this.....

Oars and a sail. Enjoy the moment !

You don't want to destroy the Wa with a stinky, oily smelly, gas burning engine.
Go green ( : )

Just think, with the money you save, you can buy one of the best OU shot guns.

This is coming from a owner of 9.5 hr Ev, 50hr johnson , 40 hr Ev, 20 hr Mer

Josh,

Is that yours now?

Sweet looking rig, I have been looking for 5hp outboards for mine, as I have been told if its a displacement hull anything more will cause the back end to be even lower in the water and I want as little weight as possible back there in the first place.

Congrats on the boat!

Zach

Josh-

A 3-5 horse motor, as lightweight as possible would probably be best.

Congrats on the boat. Looks good!

Kirk

PS- I'll give you a call this week one night

Tried a 2.5 on my Perry Barnegat, struggled with strong current or tide. Added a large oak motor mount, switched to a 4 stroke 6, and it flies no matter what the tide. Heavier motor, but provides a safety factor when needed.

Its a Sam Hunt glass over cedar.

Right now I'm leaning toward a 5hp give or take a couple HP either direction depending on the deal....

Josh, that boat is sweet! I don't know in what kind of conditions that you hunt but I would'nt go less than 9.9. There are a ton of sneakboxes here in Jersey running 9.9 and 15hp. No offence to anyone here but 3 and 4hp motors on that boat? Are you guys nuts? But that's just me. If I went into the Great Egg Harbor Bay with a 3 or 4hp motor I probably would not come back. Hunting conditions should dictate the hp rating..........Best of luck with it. It's a gem....................Kevin

I don't think they have tides in that state Kevin, here if you get the wind blowing with the tide and you have a 3 or 4 horse power you might as well anchor up until the wind dies down or the tide changes or you'll be out in the Atlantic Ocean.

I have a 7hp on mine and on the river it barely gets over the current. It is a little tired but I would htink on big water I would want a 15 hp.

Josh:I have a 14ft ,displacement hull.
I hunt various places in South Jersey(tidal),PA(river), and NYS(lakes)

I have a 15 HP on mine, and probably could get away with a 10HP,MOST OF THE TIME.

But when she' fully loaded with 2 hunters, dog, and decs---the 15HP keeps me going fine, especially if I have tide and wind holding me back.
