I want to add some lights inside my Lund Alaskan for duck hunting and fishing and was thinking about LED's under the gunnels or sides and was wondering what color would be best red/green/white, any other thoughts?
Ask brad taylor(nc) he has some lights that he sells you can buy em from his web site. Others have used them and liked them. Check em out. Also ebay has I big selection of lights.
I just noticed some LEDS I'm planning on putting in my boat. They're at walmart in the auto acceessory stuff. Fully contained with a battery and switch and adhesive mounting strip.
Depends upon how much light you want in the boat. What I wanted is something that provides just enough light to not cause a distraction. I wanted to be able to see what is in the boat but not be bright enough to read a book by. I just purchased these from Walmart this weekend and painted the cover a nice camo color and added a better reflector behing the bulb. At $8.00 each, I figured I can't go wrong.
The really nice feature on these lights for my application is that the light points down, not right into my, or my passenders face. This, and the fact that they are LED's were the selling point for me.
I prefer amber or blue to the other colors but these were white. I don't like red as it causes too many problems with trying to see other red items on maps or whatever.
I have some of these rope lights mounted up under the gunnels of my Crestliner fishing boat. They work great for my application. One strip under each side provides me with enough light to not trip over anything on the floor. I can find my tools and lures but not so bright as to hinder night vision. I love them. Only downside is they are for direct wire to your sytem, in other words they do not come prewired with an on/off switch.
Sylvania makes them. Utilizes 3 White LED Lamps For Bright Light - 2 "AA" Batteries Included - Alkaline Batteries Last 100 Hours - LED Lamp Life 30,000 Hours - Special 3M Adhesive Adheres To Virtually All Surfaces & Allows Item To Be Restuck 100 Times.
