I'm officially giving up

It's been, what, four years since I went on the Bill Wasson DHBP Maine Eider Fest (think it was #2). Anyway, still no mounts. Taxidermist keeps telling me "I'm still getting around to them". I guess I'm going to have to give up on getting the mounts back and so I'm starting the guide service search now. So, where do I go to kill some more mountable Eider next year and with who's guide service?
Rick Pierce, you up for a MAlArKy Eiderfest? Doc?
Ed Lindsay, you ready to take your life in your hands again? I ain't seen 16 footers in a while.......

did you leave a deposit ?
do you know this guy?
show up at shop ( if possible ) and

1> give me my money back
2> give me my birds back
3> or post name and address on every forum available

heck , in four years even I could have learned how to do it, bought supplies etc etc ...

same thing happend to me on a fox and duck mount. excuse after excuse .wouldn't return calls. I showed up one day , his "nephew" was manning the shop, I gave a fake name and kid ( 18 or 19 yrs old ) goes to look for my paperwork........I started loading up stuff , whatever was closest to door. I had a pile of pelts and a few deer mounts in the truck when he came out of the back ! He looked very confused when he came back. I told him what my name was and I would return the items as soon as " xxxxx " called me . Kid was on the phone and " xxxxx " was there within 5 min.

Turns out my mount was done after all ,and had been for some time. Just that it was done by the kid who had no clue what he was doing. It was all screwed up.
I got my screwed up mount ,and my money back , made the kid unload the truck !

Holy crap you got some big ones! I got burned on a deer mount last year because the lady shut down and didnt tell anyone. I had to hide down the road from her house for a few hours and her daughter finally came out and I cornered her and had her take me in. All I got back was the antlers. The B#$%^ threw out all the hides she had so she wouldnt have to pay the electric on the freezers. Its going through the county court currently, she ripped off like 300 people. The guy that does my ducks gave me a pelt for free and finished it. It turned out good but its still not my deer.

Bill,
Bummer, sorry to hear about that. Did you leave them with a taxidermist in Maine? I'm presuming you've checked to see if Bill Wasson could follow up with that. Any word from him? He's a great guy and I'd figure that he could help you out.
Where abouts IS the taxidermist.
I had dropped 8 birds off to a taxidermist around here once and waited and waited and waited. When I finally got an answer from him.............he didn't know where the birds were and they might have been destroyed when one of his freezers went out. Needless to say, I neither use him any more nor do I recommend him. Shame because I really like the fella.

Are you looking for Eiders out East or out West for future season? I'd check with Dave Drewry of Peninsular Sportsman or Charlie Summerville up in Alaska. Both of those fellas are on our Pro-Staff page with links to their websites. Charlie targets King Eider ........way up North. (allusion to an old song)

capt john.

I was much younger , probably would think twice about something like that now.

I did leave it at the old house when I sold it. Guy who bought the house said leave anything I didn't want , he was thrilled.

No, Lou.
Used a guy in AL who I've always used. Never had an experience like this. Perhaps the Eider were something that's just not in his repertoire. Anyway, I'm writinig them off and going looking for another East Coast adventure.......

Bill, i would at least go and retrieve the specimens, which, by now are probably freeze dried, and use them as models whenever you get around to making a few!

Ever tried to find an Eider pattern? Nothing, nowhere. I'd LOVE to do a hen or two. I was completely taken with the hen when I first saw one. Have an original Bill Wasson that I cherish. Wonder if I could make a decent pattern from her........ I need a good Drake to go with her!
