Here's a picture with the 1 3/4" shim under the motor. No speed difference and the bow stayed about the same...it does give me 1 3/4" better draft, so I'll probably put in a permanent one. I've got about 39lbs of gas in the bow and I tried adjusting the trim on the motor. It changed speed some but not attitude(is that the right word??).
Any suggestions from the picture?
the interceptor plate clues are in the other post. Google volo penta interceptor plates and you will come up with some links to their new system for small boats. They..... ummm ..... cost some money. Alright a lot of money. However, they are controlable and have a safety feature that when the power is cut they retract fully so they won't hang up on the trailer or something.
Does your outboard have provisions for controls? Have you considered a stick steering system? I have never used one, but would feel more comfortable about stick steering than simply a long stick.
Trim tabs will be above your prop, you will have to to hit with it before damaging trim tabs.
If you boat sits the same way in water as it does on trailer it looks to me like the angle of the motor is wrong.(That is adjustable I believe)
Think about the force that comes from the prop and where it will push the bow of your boat...take a broom or something long and direct it out from prop while boat on trailer same direction water flow would go,stand back and have a look...
Could also be that the boat is over powered?
