In the Jowls of a Retriever!

I was thinking the other day about all the crazy things I have found in O' Lincoln's jaws.... and threw together the below... I any of you have any pictures of your dog holding crazy things.. please share, i'd like to see'em.

Of all the dogs I have trained and owned over the years, he comes no where close to their skill level. Reason for that is on me... Baseball, volleyball and well just plain old living takes up the time. Priorties change I guess... and even with that... It just isn't that important to me anymore to want the best dog on the river... But don't get me wrong about Lincoln - he gets the meat back to ya... steady and handles a little-bit, just enough to pull off a blind retrieve - if needed... its not text book or mind blowing but it too gets the meat back for the stringer... but mostly Lincoln makes me and my kids laugh and our lives better because he's part of it... I guess you can say he has earned and entered that special place in my heart. And lord knows there's no telling what he might drag up next........ So we'll get some work in when we can and just enjoy the ride... As the old saying goes "its a work in progress" and we'll keep it that way for my wanna-b-retiever. Sorry to ramble.

Victor, you said it all when you mentioned that Lincoln made your lives better. That is so true. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I enjoyed those pictures and what you had to say.

Thank you Al! I am glad you enjoyed the pictures! - Vic

Great set of shots. I have a little boykin/schnauzer mix (looks like a wire-haired pup) that will bring up the craziest things. She had to be an old lady in a previous life because she loves to carry around a tissue all the time. I'm sure if she wore a bra she would stuff all sorts of crazy things down it. If she can't find a single tissue, she will dig the pack out of my wife's purse and carry the pack around. She finds dead things all the time and holds them in her mouth including flattened frogs from the driveway, old pecans that squirrels buried, dead birds, muscles/clams from the pond...and yes she does hunt...loves to dove hunt with me but she is a bird hog and won't let the other dog get his share.
It is neat to see your pooch grow through the shots. Keep them up.

Thanks Keith - Sound like you have your hands full with yours as well... I'd like to see a picture of her.. sounds like an interesting mix..

Victor...here she is when she was a pup...

Here she is all grown up...a whopping 20 or so pounds....

...and the cool thing is that she took on the schnauzer's non-shedding trait. She is too small to duck hunt...but she is a hand sized dove machine!!!

Habi was pleading innocence when I took this picture. One of my rollers met his demise on that day.

This shot will back up Habi's claim that she didn't eat the bird. The last time we saw her with one is when she brought this racing homer to the kitchen door and was waiting for me to take it from her, which I did. I then let it go so it could fly back to the pigeon loft.

Well, Bev and I found out who the real culprit was. Here Chance is looking like he couldn't have done anything like that.

She is a very good looking dog!
- I bet she turns heads in the dove field. She looks like she has a lot of attitude or should I say confidence... Thanks!

Al, I believe Chance is thinking about one the great lines from Shawshank Redemption "Everybody's innocent in here. Didn't you know that"?
