inflatable dekes

I found two dozen of the inflatable plasti duc decoys in my hunting partners barn. They are still strapped together just like the day he bought them. I took one out and looked at it trying to figure out how in the world you use the darn thing. This particular one has a screw cap on the bottom backside. How do you inflate it enough and close the cap without all the air escaping? This thing is like a gag joke or something. I can see why the old salty hunters never shot their dekes if this was what they used. There would be a fight if I got them blown up and someone shot them.

Many of those blow up dolls have a one way valve that actually leaks very slowly so that at the end of the hunt they will already be partially deflated. Someone gave me a dozen when I was about 18 yrs. old and I can tell you that they were a major pain in the old wazoo. They dry rotted in about a year so no more hassles after that. I wouldn't take them as a gift nowadays. if you are wading in a swamp they are easier to carry than solid dekes.

Hunt more and work less.
Best,
Harry

I have a dozen inflatable decoys in brand new condition but they are just dust catchers on a shelf in our porch. They are a curiousity but I don't think I would try to hunt them. I'm sure dry rot would be a big factor. I just pulled a couple down to look for a name and didn't find one. I think when I got them there was aname on them that I Goggled and found the company in the Pacific Northwest that still makes dog retreiving dummies. I will check more later

I have a dozen inflateable malards they have a photo of a real duck printed on them. I realy like them tey have some sand in the botom and are made of a heavy gauge plasticthey sit on the water right and swim well in the slightest wind. The reason I like them so much is I hunt from a kayac and there is not a lot of room so I can inflate/deflate and have a dozen deeks and have room for the rest of my gear. I have actualy had them out in a 15 mile an hour wind and they swam great no rolling or anything of that nature. I would like to find some inflatable goose deeks to add to the spread. when I get more money and buy a real rig I would love to have some hand carved deals but till then the infalteables work for me.
