Interior / Exterior Home Decorating Ideas......

I'm looking to do a complete interior / exterior redecorate of my home. I want to do this in a waterfowl, turkey, deer theme. I'd like each room to have its own theme with the living room being the focal point done in a waterfowl theme.

Has anyone else done this ? Where did you draw your ideas from ? Where did you find the materials for such a project ?

Now, the next question is where the fight begins....

In your opinion, which duck is the most famous of them all ? In other words, when you think of classic waterfowl hunting, which duck defines classic waterfowl hunting to you ? Would it be a Canvasback, a Redhead, a drake Wood Duck..... ?

Thanks for your input....

Fred

I am in the middle of doing the same to the interior of my house. Unfortunately Most of the rooms are not themed, but my den is mine and will be duck themed. I have not started with that yet as the kitchen is priority one. As far as looking for materials places like LL Bean and Cabelas have some offering for furniture and the like, but you can find more with a quick internet search. I do not remember the names, but when I was looking I found some mid west and Texas companies that made nice furniture. I hope you are not headed down the camo everything look.

I look forward to seeing your progress if you have any specific materials you are looking for I am sure someone here will know where to find it.

Fred, for your duck that will lead the theme...... What's "your" duck? The question is a bit like asking another guy what type of woman you should like..... I like strong willed brunette's :)

Divers tend to get the glory in paintings and literature, their habitat is much more dramatic, but they lack the plumage pallet of the puddlers..... I also think the available home decorations are much more puddler themed with Woodducks, Mallards, Teal leading the way there.

A friend of mine's duck shack is centered on the Canvasback because of the history associated with that bird on the lake he hunts (cabin is nicknamed Canvasback Crossing). Of the 20 or so prints and originals, likely 15 are Cans, and all of them in the main room are.

For mounts I think he has 5 cans, 1 red head, 1 golden eye, and two sets of antlers along with some family fishing photos, old Victor Trap Co decoys from his father in-laws attic, and some other outdoors miscellany.

Good luck!

I have a shelf in my sun room where I can line up decoys and other related items. Looks good That with items on the walls (flat art) and a old double barrel looks good. Unfortunately I cant figure how to post pics. I been in the home furniture and interiors field for my whole life.

I would agree - Can's are "the" duck. They call them the King of the Ducks for a reason... because they are!!! That said, as a Minnesotan, I love Bluebills a whole awful lot...

Well... Of all the ducks... King Sized, Steller's, or Spectacled Eider... Harlequin, Barrows GE, Canvasback, Greater Scaup, Buffy, Northern Shoveler.... And maybe an Old squaw.... That is where I would start!
