Introduce myself

John, glad to see you over here. I don't post much but always look here to see what everyone's up too. "The Temple of Tom" is great! I am glad I printed off all of your tutorial before it was gone. Glad to see you posting here. Take care Eric.

It would be nice to have a section just for tutorials on the website. I would love to see some from MLBob and Pat Gregory also if possible.

Hey John -

Glad to see you join up. If you recall, we exchanged emails a few months back about a Can you had shown at a show. I saw the pic here on this site and got your name from someone here. I loved that decoy and not being a decoy collector or anything, found it to be the best looking work of art I had ever seen. Gorgeousbird. Still have the one I'm talking about? If you are unsure what I am referring to I can find the pic I think.

Welcome aboard, I look forward to seeing more of your work on this site.

Gentlemen,

Sorry I've been offline since Friday night due to the snowstorm. Currnetly I'm typing from work. What was supposed to be 4-6" originally ended up being 26" at my house. No power for most of Saturday and no cable or internet now.

So once my home internet is back Up I'll start posting the style tutorial, and get to those other messages. I can't do my home email from work.

Back soon.

Hey John. I'm over here too now. I put some pic's up on the progress I've made on the cut out you sent me. Thanks again. I've not had a lot of opportunity to carve, but I have started to sketch patterns and practice coloring them with colored pencils my wife sent me. The wood duck avitar is one of them.

Mike

I owe everyone some pictures of the progress I've made on the head cut-out that John sent me. I'm just about ready to sand it and add the bill details. Then I'm waiting on my draw knife that my Dad said he'd be sending my way soon to start on the body. I'm going to get with the local Afghan carpenter to see if he can cut it in two so I can hollow it. That may have to wait until I get home however.

I've got two other heads done and will probably mail them home to my wife to be waiting on me after I get back. I plan on doing the bodies for them in HD Cork.
