Iowa Ducks and Pheasant

I will be in Iowa for some duck hunting and the pheasant opener this year and I am trying to figure out their license requirements for out of state hunters.

Is all I need a 1. small game license, 2. migratory bird license and 3. habitat stamp fee ?? I'm from Al. and we have a state stamp requirement for waterfowl....I will already have my federal stamp with me.

All I get from my friends that want me to bring my dog up to hunt is "come on up and we'll find some birds".

Thanks for the help.

Jeff,

Your right on.....

1.) non-resident hunting license

2.) state waterfowl fee (BTW, you don't get a stamp in Iowa anymore)

3.) habitat fee.... Why they don't just add that cost to the hunting license cost is beyond me.

Anyway, that should cover ya.

Where abouts are you going to be hunting?

Last weekend A small town in KS held a concert, kinda thought IA missed out on a great opportunity.....It was called "Cornstock", my wife's from Burlington IA and Didn't find this funny,
I told her Aww Shucks I'm Sorry, Insert profane IA statement.

Don't you need to register with HIP in Iowa too?

Nevermind, I just saw that it is automatic when you do your waterfowl fee.

Thanks for the help, everyone.

Jeff: I will be just north of Davenport. Never been, but it is a free trip if I arrive with dog in tow. A couple days of ducks and then will be around for the pheasant opener for a few days. Looking forward to seeing old friends and a new place.

Hey Lance,

I will be in the Toronto/Lost Nations area October 25th -28th for 4 days of hunting ??? Is that near you ??
