Is this a pond box or a very small boat....

Steve,

There isn't a motor board option on the plans or capacity recommendations. The other thing I notice after recieving the plan is some modification is nessecary. I was under the impression this was for plywood construction. It calls for plank. The Bulkheads and stern are made from 1/2" plywood. With this in mind, I laid out the skeleton in 3d cad. The hull arc length at the beam using the dimensions on the plan measures 50.54". I have redesigned the forms and re-positioned them so the arc length is 47.7" so standard plywood sheeting can be used. O.A.L. is 10'-4 1/2" with approx. 45" beam.

Ed,
Will plywood follow the compound curve of the bottom? I thought it was ply as well until I got the plans. I would love to have a cedar strip boat, I just do not have the time to take on that project right now. Shawn

Dave,

It always amazes me how different shapes, bends and forms look when you model them on the computer verses the old days of manual drafting when your drawings looked like you perceived them to be! That and the fact I can't build anything, this is my only claim for fame!....hehe

Shawn,

Excellant question. I don't know. I'm going to use some furring strips and 1/4" luan I have laying around in the garage while I wait patiently for Ira to let us in on the redesign of the Fatboy! I can't build a square box but I think I can force the plywood. It's not much different than a Kara although it is a bit deeper.
