So took a day off today and went hunting ducks, had couple group of birds in decoys before shooting time and absolutely nothing after that, no wind, a beautiful fall day, all i was left to do was to make tea and take pics, didn't fire my gun today but here are some shots of the day

Here is hen Mallard by Bob Mitchell showing her "true colours" and the drake

Those really look good. Its amazing how good a rig of a few really good looking ones blows away a mass of mediocre ones. Just don't bring to any public land in Md. You'll get your birds, but may get some shots at your spread.

Farrukh,

Truly beautiful pictures. Thanks for taking the time to share your photography and some of your collection.

BTW... is Millers Tavern still in business? I used to live near Flemington.

It is neat to see a collection of nice birds get gunned over. Most would sit on a shelf over the fireplace.

Farrukh, that is the most incredible rig I have ever seen. I"m sure glad that you made a decision to do what you did. Great thread. How could a duck resist? Guess there none flying in your area.

how do you carry your decoys to the blind? they are beautiful but the high heads would scare me to death in transport?! also anchors on/off?

Got the really nice paded decoy bags with anchor slots, anchors stay on, i just carefully put bags on the bow, the drake pintail can't be put in the bag due to high head, he just sits on top of the bags ( securely), but i know they'll get scratched and bumped eventually.

Farrukh Thanks for setting that rig out where it belongs, and sharing the photos. I'm sure the decoys were made to take a errant pellet or two. Thats all part of bein' decoys, and the men who make them know that. Honest wear brings out the character, and history of decoys, as far as I am concerned. Totems of the Hunt.

They look better than great, they look fantastic. You should be proud to have collected such a nice mix of decoys. Just don't let TJ chew on any of them :)

Wish I was there with ya. I know where!
