Its a duckboat forum so.....

Gary,

Your draft concern isn't far off, this hull isn't the best for dragging across mud flats, but actual draft is quite low when compared to the motor draft. If you get serious, I'd be glad to get into a discussion with you on hull types. The Starcraft SF was not the optimum hull to have used for the deckover. It is however very seaworthy and heading out for the 7 mile run across Narragansett bay in rough conditions in the dark that's a comfort. However the rest of the time, I wish I had gone with a semi v that is widest at the waterline. My old tub of a Wolverine was a supper decked boat, maximizing storage and initial stability and drafting almost nothing with the flat bottom aft. Decking details for the old hull is in the old Readers Rigs, off the main page.

We need to get John O moved up to RI and organizing his get togethers up here.

Scott ,

Thanks for sharing pics !!! At least you post pcs not like Wendall !! LOl WENDALL JUST BUSTING YOU UP I can attest Scott's boat is a great boat , we have made the trip a few times across the bay in less than desirable conditions and his aluminum v handles it fine !! Scotts boat has alot of upgrades that make it very huntable in our areas from the awesome blind system that is super easy to setup and take down when retrieving those wigeon , and it grasses really well . Good luck with your choice , i am here if you need more Cackler pics to help the decision Gary.

There's not really any "Can do it all" boat but here on the marshes of Long Island we use the 14' TDB Style & 14' Southbay Duckboats. A low-profile design with good stability for 1 gunner, gear & dog. Last photo is a "Double-Wide" Southbay extended 3ft beam.

Does the deck braces tie into the floor?
Is lid lockable5?
