JB still at it

The hunting has been a little slow until yesterday. My brother in law and I headed out to the lake. The temperature dropped yesterday, it was 41 degrees at the ramp when I got out of the truck. We got to the spot and got set up. There were a lot more birds with the cold weather. We got our mottled ducks right away. Several times caught sleeping at the wheel. We ended up with a mixed bag of teal, mottled, and a hen ringer.

Today, I took out my little hunting buddies. Someone was in our honey hole, so we were forced to move down the line. The hunting started off slow. Finally a flight of teal made their way to the decoys. I knocked one down. Some time passes, just hanging out and laughing with the kids. Out of nowhere a large group of teal were working towards the decoys. As soon as the first one got a foot in the water I shot. 3 shots, 4 birds. I went from zero to hero with my kids in just a couple of seconds. We waited a little longer and decided to pack it up. I pulled the boat out of the brush. Now in the wide open, picking up the decoys, 2 birds come dive bombing into Jersey Boy, which is about 25 yards away. I get my gun back out and loaded it . I flushed the birds and made a clean shot and a limit. Great day! I'm going to get out one more time before I have to send him off. Jeff

I sure enjoyed those pictures and your story, Jeff. Glad you had such good hunts and in particular to have those two young lads with you to witness it all. I'll bet they can hardly wait for that day to come for them.
