Jersey Boy In Sunny Florida

Well, He arrived on Thursday and I didn't waste much time getting him out to lake Okeechobee for the opener. It was a muggy 66 degrees when we arrived at the ramp. A few trucks in the parking lot. What you would expect on opening day. We got the boat loaded and motored out to our spot. We got where we wanted to be, only one group about a thousand yards away. As it got closer to shooting light the mosquitos came alive and we prayed for our thermacells to heat up. Shooting time started 20 minutes early for a party further to the north. The birds started to show themselves in groups here and there. Some birds but not nearly what I had hoped for. A few teal but mostly mottled ducks. I will be back out there in the morning with my 10 year old son and his new 20 gauge, and of course "Jersey Boy" What a beautiful bird! I will post more on Jersey Boy's vacation south tomorrow. Also, I don't have the address of who it goes to next. Glad to be a part of this. Thanks, Jeff
