Johns first tree sit!

I finally got out with my 9 yr old son to spend the witching hours with him
in the woods. What a great feeling. We set up about 4:45 in a oak flat
with heavy trails thru the blueberrys. He went up the tree steps like a pro
and did not mind the hight at all.

Used a main line for safety and it worked well, up and down. Brought a
helper to keep the interest from going away. After 45 min. he put the
game boy in his backpack and we watched the sun go away for an hour.

Never saw a deer but they are there. The owl's put on a show and the tree
rats were in the mood.
At sundown we climbed down and packed up. Boy did he like getting to
use the one headlamp. When we were loaded up I pointed to the road and
he started to cut a trail. Ten steps later he stopped and I heard him say,
"Dad, look at the deer highway I found." So down the track we went right thru
the old bar way.
Best day of hunting I have ever had. Been waiting for this for 9 years.

If a good time was had, then it was a successful hunt. Way to go dad.

In a few years he will be showing you how it is done.

The hunts that I have been on with my children are among the best I have ever had!! You are on your way to the most rewarding phase of your hunting career. Enjoy it!!!
