Judy and I were present at our new Italian baby's arrival!

but the actaul case puller has three claws on it...the one open side allows the gizmo to slip over, and lock onto, the rim, of the casing.....the .410 puller would therfore be too small to go onto the 20 and the 20 would be too loose onthe 410...

These things are from long ago when paper shells would swell badly and require a good amoutn of force to extract...you wouldn't use the pry thing because it will mar the gun when you pry agains the metal so you just use that part to lift the head high enough to engage the rim of the hsell with the three hooks on the ring.

Its worn on a finger and that allows the weared to exert enough force to pull the casing....and likely the folks thatt could afford those guns had a JEEVES to wear the ring and pull the stuck shells, all the while liekly being yelled at to "make haste dolt, the pheasants are getting away"......

These days in the age of plastic they are just for show....

OK..I put my face close to the screen and could see the edge of the ring had something on it. I think I get it now.

resize photos to the file limit where they weren't so distorted, and to have figured out how to post using the new system, I'd post a picture of the ones that I have.....mine are nickle silver and don't have the little hook on the extension but the use is the same.....

But since I'm incapable of figuring out the ew system I can't....

I figured out what those little gee gaws are...its window dressing on the case itself...gold leaf or something like that to outline that section of the case...I kept looking at it trying to figure out what it was and then I see it around the other parts as well.....

Heck that "trim" probably cost more than both of our 870's....

Yup, that's gold trim around them. Just the kind of Gee-Gaws one would expect from a cased Purdey of this quality.

And Lee must have already bought one of these to know the price IS $145,000.
