July "whats on your workbench"

Great lines Geoff, cool hairdo on that Merg.

Two fish in one month must be a record for me.
First painting I've ever named, "Damsel in Distress".

edit... thought it would be neat to show one of my first mallards. I beat myself up over each decoy i make. putting these side by side, I see how far i've come. I hope to look back on this new one and think the same thing in 10 years

Finally finished up getting the dry brushing on the vermiculation and the highlights in the head. All that's left is keel and out the door.

Pat I put some mosaic up in the kitchen this Spring some color lines as that. I will see if the boss will let me do something similar. Very nice

here is a pattern of mine I have looked at and looked at. sometimes you never know until you carve it and float it how it will turn out. So far I like it will see after final sanding and some paint

Great work guys! Pat; I loved the article in Delta Waterfowl Magazine...quite a spread! I have that copy stashed away for safe keeping. The shorebirds are SWEET! Bob; the urn wigeon is SWEET! I have layed off the collecting for a while. I plan to hopefully make my Uncle Alfred (RIP) proud this winter. More on that later. Keep posting the wonderful decoy photos. Hitch

When I grow up, I want to rave and paint like you guys. Pat, beautiful shore birds. Nice video in the other post by the way.

Jeff,
Nice decoy. I really like the paint job, especially the sides and back. From the picture it looks like you've got a brownish tint to the more commonly seen pure grey??
What colors did you mix?

Denny

denny, thanks for the compliment. that color is jansen's medium gray mixed with burnt umber to warm it up a bit, then dry brushed with a little carbon black.

thanks,

Jeff
