Eric,
This is very cool what you are doing. Im curious, what is the weight difference between this and a decked system? Also, how do you plan to seal it from the elements? Is your bed enclosed with a camper shell? My buddy had a decked system with a camper shell. We would often times just throw sleeping bags, pillows and thick foam pads in the back. We both could easily sleep in the back since it got us above the wheel wells when we were out hunting in a real rural area.

I have no idea the weight difference. It has between three and four sheets of 11/16 plywood so it isn't light. I think whatever difference there is will be overcome by what you pack it full of. Tools vs. camping gear. I'm painting the exterior and the drawers are getting varnished. My truck has a cap so it shouldn't see too much water or direct sunlight. If I didn't have a cap I would go with a decked system and never worry about the elements destroying it.
