Tom,
We're moving back to Maryville next week. I'm still wrapping up work on my PhD, so we'll see if I have time to make it down. I have a buddy from Columbia that might be interested as well. Hope to see you then!
I will be smoking a couple pork shoulders on Friday and make some slaw for us to eat. Bring a chair and whatever you prefer to drink. Colombians are welcome
has been awhile since I have carved or painted as much as this weekend. There was a lot of fun with this great group of carvers. Some were seasoned, some it was their first time to ever carve or paint. I think everyone left feeling that they accomplished something and learned something, I know I did.
Food was eaten, laughs were had, friendships were strengthened and birds were worked on over two or three days. One fella drove all the way from Austin Tx, one from Ok but just over the line from Tx. The rest were local or a couple hours away.
One completely carved and painted his first decoy. One started his first to be completed at a later time.

If you are interested in carving find someone local or a group and get busy carving.
Tom,
You keep serving up those pork shoulders and they will come. :>) :>) Looks like you had a decent turnout. I was stuck attending a family reunion on my wife's side. I rode my cycle and it rained. Next time, I'm heading your direction instead.
