June...What's on your workbench?

Looking at this page and start to scroll up started at he bottom I said look Jode carved some birds before I even saw the name knew they were yours and then to go on to read what it said and I looked at my dad and he smiled!!! Best graduation present ever can't wait to see them in person!

Wes, it was my pleasure. Your a fine young man, hell of a hunter and getting good at making decoys too. I know your dad is rightfully proud of you. Congratulations! Jode

That would be a perfect rig for the Arkansas flooded timber! Beautiful...

My wife bought a pair of your greenwings several years ago at the "old" Westlake show auction, and they are two of her favorites...

George, With all due respect. Not "a few recently finished" but "a whole flock of puddlers for us guys to drool over !" I'm a big fan and enthusiast of your work , and am pleased to have some representative examples of your birds in my decoy collection. Good to see you posting here, and looking forward to seeing future decoys. Best regards.

Sean, your picture of the spoon reminded me of the day I was walking along the Bering Sea into the village of Kotzebue. I stopped in a shop and saw where one of the artists had taken a Dall sheep's horn and made it into a soup ladle. It was uniquely beautiful.

What an awesome display of talent! To think that this is a "few recently finished"----Do you sleep? Those decoys are outstanding.

I got married on June 15 and instead of traditional wedding cake toppers, it was requested that I carve some miniature decoys. These are about two inches long. The photo doesn't really pick up the detail on the hen. For any carver who hasn't tried carving a mini, you should do so. It is far more challenging than a full sized decoy but very fun.

Michael~

Beautiful work! I'm sure the cake looked great.

I have never tried anything as small as 2 inches; I've done a few about 5 inches for kids. Do you use a knife or a Foredom (or similar) ?

Keep it up!
