Jode, Nice! Are they going to stay on the stick extensions, or be suspended? Sure wish you had included some body underside pics, too!

Actually, had three decoy-in on Moss Lake a few years ago. My partner shot. I didn't because I have never eaten one. They actually are pretty good! A bird I seldom see up here...

Thanks RL, they will eventually be suspended from a ceiling. I will take a few underside shots and post them up.

I see them a lot, but rarely shoot them. They are To fun to watch on a slow day.

Joe, There are not enough words to thank you for KINDNESS . They will ride the waters of the Susquehanna River and Lower Chesapeake Bay this Fall.

The Mallards look good, now we have to get you back out to Strongsville. I will be headed out in December for deer hunting we will have to get together.

Thanks Pete. I may be in Ohio this coming March. When you are out this December I may be staying at our house in Nevada Mo. That would be a quick trip for you to come visit.
 

Posts of decoys & carvings for this month look very good. Folks still gettin' it done. Two thumbs up!


The drake Wood Ducks are in final stages, but not yet complete. Two hollow White Pine, from a tree from our town park. Heads are pattern grade Sugar Pine, oil paint. The cedar silhouette is the original pattern I drew on a cedar board from a drake I shot in 1993. Time to put the original to better use.

The "Nail Bird", small shorebird awaits oil paint.


Fly fishing is really heating ,up so things will have to wait. First things first. So many fish so little time...

i will be doing some fine tuning on the shaping of the mallard rig i did last year, but they will likely end up in the July post

however -- i did get one "decoy" project done this month

a photo backdrop built from Steve Sanford's well presented plans (apologies for the muddy (trained yesterday) kennel podium - but it won't go on the wall until the new shop is ready)

Those are fine looking scaup Lloyd. Between your greater scaup and black brant you have mastered my 2 favorite species
