Sean,
sweet pictures. I think you just might have a duck paradise there. Pictures are great and I like the summer project.

Rick, that is a design by Pete Culler, it is a 24' dory originally inteded for lobster fishing on the East Coast. The design is quite old, and my understanding is there are a few of them running around the Maine area, but this is the only one out on our side of the country. I guess it does look simular to a Bartender, but definately not one. The Bartender is a double ender boat, with a little less deadrise in the bow. This boat has an extremely sharp bow entry and fairly flat deadrise all the way through to the stern. I will try and dig up some more pictures tonight and post them.

Awesome pictures! How about a little more info on Fishtown? How long has it been there etc? Pretty interesting. Boat looks real nice too!

Fishtown dates back to around the 1930's, although much of the history of it is really unknown prior to the late 1950's which is when some of the current duck shack owners started coming around. I do know that the original occupants lived in the cabins and fished for a living, or worked for the various logging outfits that ran up and down the river. Many of the cabins were built with stolen materials, ours was originally built by a couple of guys who worked for Weyerhauser with stolen materials. Of course the only materials that remain today are the floor materials, everything else has been replaced over the years including all the beams and pilings that hold the cabin up. My dad bought into the duck shack back in the early 1970's. Its really sort of like a "grown-ups tree fort"

Really does look like a Simmons. The Dories in general are very seawothy boats and the Simmons especially. I'm told that someone is now building a Simmons out of FG.
Thanks for the photos,
Harry

The Culler boat is sweet! I dream of a layout tender to live on, at least through the early part of the season. Fishtown looks like an active museum...cool stuff.
