Great shots Dick. Are you taking them from the cover of the TDB or from the sidelines?
Beautiful colors on the Mallard drakes and love the Black, both the bird and the reflections.

Hi Commander - These were shot on foot from a shoreline at a little spot I found that has a bunch of mostly mallards. Next weekend the tides are better for the boat and I am planning to float the TDB. If I can con the boss into driving it, I might make take a safari up inside plum island way up the parker river to see what's doing.............but odds are I will be doing a solo with some decoys !

What fun, Sarge. Great shots and with flaps. I'm curious as to what time of the day was it?
Al

Al - This was mid afternoon on a very bright day..........almost too bright.........but I found that I could get a better shot with the sun behind but at an angle maybe 30 degrees off to the side. This spot will yield some corkers, I think, with the background with softer light, maybe early or late in the day. It is a very small pond within 200 yards of the ocean which is directly east and I plan to try an early shot when I can.

Beautiful photos! The mallard drake in the background of the bird landing is a decoy pattern waiting to be carved! As for the C5, do you have a lot of the mute swans there? I know of a couple states where they have an eradication program...

Hey DeWayne -

It would be tough to have any program like that here in the PRM (People's Republic of MA) but I understand from one of the area residents that the swans on this little pond have lost their young every year to coyotes. The coyotes have really filled in here over the past decade. I am waiting to see if the cougars slide east to join the buffet.

Dick,
My wife has taken up wildlife painting with pastels, when I showed her the pic of your C5 swan she screamed "I want to paint that!"
Would you give her permission to do so?

Hi Jesse - You certainly do not need my permission but I am flattered that you asked. Please tell your wife that I encourage her and hope that the image helps her to work some magic. If you would like additional images, I would be happy to shoot a sequence or two and send them over for her, just shoot a PM.

That also goes for any other images of mine that she might like. Sometimes I will add my name to protect an image. Just let me know and I can send you a clean image for her use anytime.

regards,
Dick

Dick,
Thank You. Laurie is thrilled! She says it's beyond generous of you to let her use your photos, the photos are amazing!. I'm sending you a PM with our e-mail address. Laurie is always looking for good reference photos of wildlife to paint from.
Thanks again,
Jesse

Sarge - Love the swan and the butterballs. Showing God's full majesty! Keep up the good work Brother and sharing His goodness... Pat
