Just a question

If the use of a sink box was legal where you hunt, would you use one? Premise this with a yes you must of course obey all current modern laws and limits. Questioned myself after seeing the old rigs at the Ward museum.

As to my own personal choice, I'd would have loved to give one a go out on lake Michigan.

If it was legal in any state or commenwealth in the US I would absolutely love to use one...Still do not understand why a gas tank can be sunk in a field or a concrete box can be built underground and be legal...Isn't this the same premise except below a different medium...

So would a St. Lawerence River hunt be in the works BB...Count me in if you go...Not this year but in the future....

I'd have one built in a week if they'd let us use them.

I don't see what the big problem is anyway, a limit is a limit is a limit, right?

Didn't know you'd be down @ the museum. Did Obi behave himself?

I too would love to hunt out of one, but from what I've read about the setup I don't think I'd build or try to maintain a setup like that. The wave breaking slats, cast iron or lead decoys to weigh the rig flush in the water etc. More work than I want to maintain a rig like that.

Hunting from a sinkbox is legal in Ontario. Having said that I have been waterfowl hunting on the Canadian side of the Great Lakes for over 35 years and have never met anyone who owned one, hunted from one or knew anyone who hunted from one. I have heard stories that there are folks who hunt from them in eastern Ontario on the St. Lawrence river.

I really enjoyed the posts about Dani and Steve hunting from one in Nova Scotia and Keith Mueller's museum piece. It looks like a big project to get one ready to hunt!

I hunted from one about 14 years ago in the St. Lawrence River in Quebec near the town of Champlain. Large waves were scary (and cold).
