You have been beating that drum for a while. GF will be out of school soon - what do you have lined up that you haven't told us about? A little less talk a little more action seems in order :).

I heard this morning the legislation pasted late last night. I keep reading 60% of those polled want this yet I also hear for instance that 70,000 applications for FOID cards have been sent to the Illinois State Police since the election and around the same number have taken the course and have applied for CCP just in Iowa alone. The numbers don't compute. The feds are on track and once the NRA and the other pro-gun organizations go bankrupt fighting on a local level the feds will run an end play. It's fortunate your young, educated and have the ability to move. A lot of us don't have that ability and are just waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak. Something similar is going to happen here I'm sure. Chicago isn't going to be happy with other states one uping them. Good luck to you.

Chris,

I wish you and your girl friend luck. As stated before, your young enough to move and still have time to build a life for yourselves in a free state.
I'm stuck here in NY and now have to play by our new rules and I only see it getting worse. I wish I could pick up and leave but that is not in my cards at the present time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

The US Constitution and Bill of Right are under attack.

For all the other guys out there in states where the hammer has not dropped, this is your wake up call. If you think it will not happen in your state think again. Make some noise now!

As Ed stated the numbers do not add up. Look at how many people are scrambling to arm themselves. I don't know where the government is getting their numbers. Obama's home town of Chicago is living proof that banning firearms is not the answer.

Obama has turned out to be the greatest gun salesman in the history of the US all while trying to keep the country from getting guns.

The Alabama legislature is taking up bills today to give people the right to carry/keep firearms in their vehicles at all times and places.
We may be viewed as backwards by the rest of the country, but in regards to gun rights and the economy, I sure as heck think we are on the right track.
Now if we could just get out tax code reformed and adequately fund all public schools, we'd be going some where.

Carl,

In the famous words of Charlie Daniels...The South is going to do it again...I've been watching the job market down there. After Wells Fargo squandered the bail out funds they received and want to charge me 3.5% on my refinanced home loan (which I'm still upside down on) but will only give me .8% on my saving, I'm finding it's getting easier in my mind to give this place back to them and head south far from the criminals running Illinois and ultimately forcing me into poverty!

Go for it Chris....

To all of my CT bretheren who do not have pistol permits, I suggest that you find a permit class and start your application process ASAP as I'm sure the 3-4 month process will quickly grow to 6-12 months as people catch on that the pistol permit is the way to go if you want to buy ammo, or what's left of the legal guns to buy. Same backround check and wait for the yet to be written ammo purchase permit or long gun purchase permit so you may as get the pistol permit to cover everything. Once word is out for what is required if you want to buy a box of duck loads or trap loads, the backlog is going to be immense.

When you move down to Alabama Ed, I'm sure the new boat/motor set up you just bought won't work down there. Let me know and we'll discuss pricing.

Are you sure the pistol permit will work? I've read the bill, and it sounds like it should work, BUT... Bill to be signed in 58 minutes.

My understanding Tod was that you don't have the pistol permit, you will need the ammo permit if you only want to buy ammo, or the long gun permit if you want to buy ammo and new long guns. It's all about EVERYONE having been fingerprinted and a backround check....pistol permit is proof of that. It would really be overwhelming to the state to have 170,000 existing permit holders have to redo the backround check, on top of the half million or more new people.

What?...Haven't you watched Swamp People? If those guys can gator hunt in a Peerow I can certainly duck hunt in a Bluebill. After all I lived in Florida and I ain't skeert....Hehehe

Truth is jobs ain't jumping out at a guy my age. Even college grads have been forced into the temp job force. Used to be companies wanted contractors with experience. With the contingent employee becoming the norm that's not the case anymore. Really I should quit bitchin and start counting my blessing that I have a little chunk of land where I have access to hunting and fishing areas close to home.

You are using logic Jim, I don't know if that is relevant in this case. :). I've been wanting to do the permit, but I wan't to be sure it will count.

If you have any experience with light or heavy industry, the job market here is breaking wide open.
Steel mills, aircraft factories & suppliers, auto plants and shipbuilders are all hiring or getting ready too.
And the cost of living & weather make it a great place to retire.
And yes, that boat will be perfect, so don't sell it, bring it!

The pistol permit will buy you long guns and ammunition. Just a taste of our fine new law, to save the time of reading 50 or more pages....

(c) On and after October 1, 2013, no person, firm or corporation shall sell ammunition or an ammunition magazine to any person unless such person holds a valid permit to carry a pistol or revolver issued pursuant to subsection (b) of section 29-28 of the general statutes, as amended by this act, a valid permit to sell at retail a pistol or revolver issued pursuant to subsection (a) of section 29-28 of the general statutes, a valid eligibility certificate for a pistol or revolver issued pursuant to section 29-36f of the general statutes, as amended by this act, or a valid long gun eligibility certificate issued pursuant to section 2 of this act and presents to the transferor such permit or certificate, or unless such person holds a valid ammunition certificate issued pursuant to section 15 of this act and presents to the transferor such certificate and such person's motor vehicle operator's license, passport or other valid form of identification issued by the federal government or a state or municipal government that contains such person's date of birth and photograph.

Chris has the right idea. Get the hell out. Are you sure they're hiring by you Carl?

Sung to the tune of "Bye Bye Miss American Pie"

Bye Bye my 2nd amendment rights
Obama sold me out, he just doesn't care
Those old school dems smoking shit in their pipes
Said this will be the day that guns die
This was the day all guns go bye....

Add your own versse after this each time another State falls. What are we up to now - 4 or 5?

Mark,

While I understand your humor I personally do not find anything funny about the current state of affairs in this country. I would love to add a verse that ends with elected officials being put on trial for their treasonous acts.
I suggest you write letters to your elected officials before you have to add Minnesota to your song.

Thanks Jim, I'm in a class for the 20th - I appreciate the heads up.

No problem Tod. I bet there are 10's of thousands of CT gun owners who think this law today doesn't apply to them....they will be in for a surprise....

Just what the haters want - one more guy carrying :).

I guess it's one of those so-called "unintended consequences" I hear about..... Since I can't carry my 9 with a full mag, I plan to save up for a SIG P220 Equinox.... 45ACP
