I've been waiting, like some of you, for the birds to show up but got tired of waiting and headed out. Prior to getting hammered with 2 feet of snow, I took an invite to hunt with a close friend out of his blind. It was cold, tide low, winds gusting and sunny skies. We had a great time catching up on life and scratching down a few birds that decoyed, missed some too. So I figured I take a picture of the dog and as I tried to do this I ran into a snag.

I saw the log on low tide but on high tide, I felt it and underestimated its girth. As I tried to walk over the substructure, my one leg slid along the trunk and the other leg stayed stuck in the mud. It wasn't long before I made up my mind, that I'm toast. Man Down!!! In I went, waders took on water both in the front and back. I didn't get too cold (natural insulation) but what a way to end a nice hunt?

I did get the picture and if I had brought that wonderful water proof camera, which my wife claimed, I'd be wet and not so light in the wallet. I was soaked through and my fancy, dancy cell phone suffered the brunt of the incident-- but I did get the picture (always thinking positive)

When I got home, sitting on my doorstep was a box --- my floation bomber jacket was delivered (ironic because it was backordered for a month).

Life is good, can't wait to try this again-- it's not all about the ducks, is it?

Li-Jack, A good story with a good ending. I have been trying to make up my mind about the classic float coat or the classic bomber jacket. Later when you get to try it out. I would be interested your thoughts. My hunting is done here so I am looking ahead.

No problem Pete. My first try with the jacket may be this weekend, but my first impression was I felt like a stuffed sausage in it- and that was the xlarge.
