my son is 3 years old going to be 4 in january and its at the point where i am scouting more for spots a duck might come in rather then hunt the honey hole where I'd have to leave my son behind so he has "hunting clothes" mostly things i found in his drawer and said this will work. but as he is growing rapidly my wife tells me he needs snow boots gloves snow pants all that jazz i see an opening to get him proper hunting gear i tell her i got this one i go online to cabelas okay kids boot 60 to 80 dollars are you kidding me i check for a suite thats hitting in the hundreds gloves at 40 i dont spend that much on clothes for my self let alone clothes he might get 2 years out of (if im lucky). so i go on amazon start searching i find him a 4 in 1 parka boots thermals bibs and a buff for his hands. so i pay about 140 for all i can deal with that i want him to be comfortable. but the entire reason i am writing this maybe a little late is where do the people with young kids get there clothing from when i was younger it was wear you warm clothes and put dads old cammies on over top with saftey pins in the pant legs. and yes i know he is only 4 but the kid loves comming with me yesterday he discovered a beaver damn and seeing him study it and touch the chewed stick and try to understand how a beaver built this was far more better to me then killing a duck. there has even been times where i try to sneak out of the house early morning and some how the little guy knows im up and comes out looking for his boots to go with dad. here is a picture of him on a squirrle hunt we went on recentley he has a orange vest he wears just didnt have it on for the picture.

just a suggestion, have you tried the local thrift shops, like goodwill, salvation army, etc? With a young hunter that grows faster than crabgrass it is hard (at least it was for me on my army pay) to justify that added expense buying new. You might even be able to find some stuff for him on your local craigslist for a bargain price.
 
You need to ask around in your hunting circles. Someone will have outgrown hunting gear you can have.

I have four children 15, 13, 12, & 10. By the time the hunting clothes get to the end, they are finished! The good news is that it is easy to justify buying good gear for my 15yo, the bad news is that my 10yo has to use some seriously worn gear. We've got pairs of waders that are more Aquaseal than original seal!

Keep the outer layers big and use polar fleece for the inner layers. Don't buy expensive combination clothes. Fleece from Walmart is just as warm as fleece from Eddie Bauer. Fleece stretches, so you can get considerable growth coverage out of it.

When I was a child, hunting with my father, my hands and feet suffered most. I buy my children the best boots and gloves I can afford and scrimp on the rest.
 
Yeah..I've got one boy 6 and one 9 and will buy camo when I can find it on clearance but for the most part I put them in their regular winter clothes and boots and throw something "bigger and camo" over the top. Dicks is a good spot to check for 75% off stuff....Thrift stores.....Post on Facebook for donations. I've made the plung and am buying Muck boots (Arctic Pro youth) for both my boys....they're warm enough and waterproof to the top which saves you a lot of hassle when near water.
 
are hunting circle is just starting hahaha in a way most have either passed on all the used stuff to me while i was comming up or are all just starting up as in the oldest child in the group of guys i hunt with is 5. i can remember wearing old old boots with big thick wool liners in them with bright yellow laces and olive green rubeer with tan soles i think and wearing my dads gloves that were way to big. i hope to pass these close on to my nephew in a few years he will be ready for them.Just had an idea theyshould do free shipping when you buy youth equipment they are the future of the sport correct
 
Yep, thrift shops, Goodwill, etc... No sense in buying them new stuff when it wont last but a year or two at the most before they out-grow it.
 
Just ask. I gave away 5 huge boxes of clothes in the past few years. All I ask is for the person to cover shipping and if possible pass them along when their kids outgrow them. I'll check what I still have, I may still have a tote full at my parents house. If I do its all yours for the little guy.
