Kind of Cool (baseball story)

Last year when Thomas was a teachers aid she had a visitor come to the school. The visitor asked Thomas if he played sports and they started talking baseball. Turns out he was a former minor league player who's career ended early after an injury. While talking about exercises for arm strengthening he took out his cell phone and said he'd call a buddy of his who had some expertise in the area. He introduces his buddy, a former minor league team mate, to Thomas and hands the phone to Thomas who talks to the guy about long tossing, throwing from your knees, and other drills. They also talked about pitchers in the game today and he asked Thomas about some of the pitchers he knows and likes. They compared scouting reports on guys like Craig Kimbrell, Adam Wainwright, and other well know stars. Thomas said he was really nice on the phone. Care to guess who this pitcher was that talked to my son about baseball. One hint. He just set the record for most innings pitched in the post season.

Very Cool! The best bum in Baseball! My Family are big Giant fans and this series was a blast to watch! Its nice having the Golden Eight! Now if only if Thomas could get me a sign baseball, life would be grand!

As you know we're cardinals fans and the Giants knocked the Cardinals out of it but we still watched. Madison Bumgarner was simply untouchable. Maybe the greatest post season a pitcher has ever thrown.

Very cool story Eric. I always enjoy hearing about athletes who make the time to share with kids. Thomas must have been rooting for him in the World Series in spite of being a Cardinals fan.

Very cool Eric. Madison Bumgarner was amazing.

I grew up near St. Louis listening to both Jack Buck and Harry Caray on the front porch radio. Was sad to see the Cards lose to the Giants, but we were not as strong a team. Painful to hear about Taveras. I can't imagine how much money and time the Cardinal organization put into him over the last six years.
