KY coyotes and cats...

Pretty much the same around here with the coyote seasons Al... 24/7/365. There area a few exceptions to that during big game and turkey season, but its typically open season on the year around. One of these days I'm going back to Arizona to hunt. I'd love to give it a go out there.

That's interesting Carl. You're the second one that mentioned coming down to 'Bama to hunt. I used to know a few trappers that would make the trip down that way each season. It may be something to look into in the future. That could be some fun if the populations are that big. Thanks for the info.

John...That's a tough one. I love seeing a big coyote bouncing around in my trap. But there's just something about being the prey then turning the tables on them at the last second. I like them both a lot, but I suppose it would depend on the location which one I would rather do. Around my county...trapping gets the nod. Too many guys chasing them with dogs in the late season for my liking. That's why we go to Kentucky.

Maybe you'll get one in that hay set tonight with the weather moving in. I do know they tend to move a bit more right before a front moves through. Good luck, hope they move through for ya. Good job on those fox too.

Steve...heck, if I knew you were over there I would've tried to get together with ya one night. I'll shoot you a PM with specifics.

Thanks Steve. The coyotes at that one spot are still eluding my sets. Although the deer munched on the hay last night! I had a pullout at that set last week, chain stretched tight with absolutely no sign of struggle. I kind of suspected that the deer were messing with the set.

I did have a near miss on a yote in my backyard last night. I put in a couple pipe dream sets this weekend since we had no snow and it was so mild, one of the sets was out behind our house. With the fresh snow this morning I saw large tracks cutting through the yard. Then at the set I could see where it circled around the set. It looks like it put a foot right down on the lever (and missed the pan) when it sniffed the pipe.
